My name is Dr. Sarah Novosel-Ulbrich, and I’m so happy you’ve found your way here.

If you’re a parent with little or no knowledge of French, you’re not alone—and you’re in the right place. My own journey began much the same way: I was raised in an English-speaking home, but my parents enrolled me in a French immersion program at a young age. That simple decision opened up a world of creativity, culture, and opportunity for me—and it sparked a lifelong love of language learning.

That passion led me to dedicate my career to helping children discover the beauty of language, especially when it’s taught through engaging experiences like song, dance, and storytelling.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a Bachelor of Education in Childhood Education from the Faculté Saint-Jean (University of Alberta), a Master’s degree from the University of Portland focusing on how rhyme and poetry support second-language learning, and a Doctorate from the University of Calgary in Languages & Literacy. My research explores how educators conceptualize and utilise embodied literacy opportunities to fulfill learning needs in their language classrooms. 

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of guiding many students—just like your child—in both artistic and educational endeavours. I have also spent years conducting literacy assessments in all types of school programmes, and have surrounded myself with other professionals in my program with the same level of expertise. The best part? These students come from homes where no one speaks French. Just like mine. Just like yours.
